Through a network of partners and the generosity of supporters, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia distributes food free of charge to those in need of emergency food assistance in one of three basic formats.
This is our primary form of distribution. We work with over 200 soup kitchens, food pantries, senior centers, churches, and other non-profit hunger relief organizations. These partner agencies are located throughout our 14 county service area in northeast Georgia.
We serve hundreds of families all at once through a direct distribution format. With our box trucks and tractor trailers, the Food Bank provides truckloads of both perishable and nonperishable food to those in need. This program eliminates the need for storage space for our partner agencies as well as provides refrigerated storage space they do not have.
Where we find gaps in services that are not being addressed, we work with those that are interested in helping end hunger in our community to establish programs in which we directly distribute foods through various forms. Mainly, our targeted programs focus on childhood and senior hunger.
