Food Bank Summer Garden In the Works

Squash, green peppers, cantaloupes and more will be available to Athens area residents when the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia harvests the .3 acre garden located on its property later this summer. Members of the community also will be able to get pole beans, okra, tomatoes, cucumbers and watermelons. The nonprofit broke ground on the garden about seven years ago in an effort to provide fresh vegetables to members of the community that were unable to fit fresh produce into their tight grocery...
