President & CEO
John is the President and CEO of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. He began work with the food bank as a volunteer in 2000, was elected to the board of directors in 2001, and applied for and was hired to the position of President & CPO in 2004. Over the past twelve years he has more than tripled the overall distribution of food going to struggling individuals in northeast Georgia.
He has served in Fortune 500 companies supervising production, and developing, implementing and managing selection, training and quality management systems; in the education sector as an instructor and department head; honorably in the US Navy.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from UGA and a Masters of Science from UT Chattanooga both focused in the field of Industrial and Organization (Applied) Psychology and is co-published in the field premier refereed journal The Journal of Applied Psychology.
Professionally, John serves with the Georgia Food Bank Association; has served as a presenter at the Feeding America Annual conferences; Chair of the Eastern Region and member of the Feeding America National Council. He serves on various advisory boards, national task forces and focus groups; and as elected Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Food Bank Association.
He is involved in the community and served as Junior Warden of Emmanuel Episcopal Church; Administrative Secretary for the Athens Rotary Club; and recently completed duty on ACC SPLOST advisory board. His work in the community has been acknowledged through the receipt of the Helping Hand award from Coca-Cola.
