Will Rock 4 Food 2012

Think of four children you know. They could be your own children, your neighbors or coworkers children, your nieces and nephews, or even your childrens friends. Just think of four children and line them up in your mind. Now, separate one child out of that group. In Athens, one out of four children does not know where their next meal is coming from.

Many of the children who are food insecure participate in the free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs at school. But what happens after school? or, more importantly, what happens on the weekends, when they have two whole days without the breakfast and lunch program? That’s where the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia steps in with its Food 2 Kids Program. Every Friday at school children participating in this program are given a bag full of food for the weekend. The food in these bags is child-friendly, nonperishable and easy to consume.

The Food 2 Kids Program gives children the healthy, nutritious food they need to thrive. Children who are well-nourished have better school performance (academically, athletically and socially), have fewer behavioral problems and tend to have fewer health issues. By providing them the nutritious food they need today, children will become better citizens of tomorrow.

Come out and support this program at our 5th Annual Will Rock 4 Food concert, April 20,2013 at Terrapin Brewery.
