The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia will work toward ending hunger as part of an overall community effort to alleviate poverty.

Kids Café Program

The Kids Cafe program started in Savannah, Georgia when two young brothers were discovered late one night in the kitchen of their housing project's community center looking for food.

Our Kids Cafe program provides well-balanced, hot, nutritional evening meals in a safe, accessible friendly environment to children under the age of 18 who may not have access to food once they leave school.

Kids Cafe programs operate in a variety of community locations where children already congregate during the afterschool hours—such as Boys and Girls Clubs, churches or public schools. Currently, Step of Faith Ministries in Franklin County is our Kids Café operating partner.

In addition to providing meals to kids, some Kids Cafe programs also offer a safe place, where under the supervision of trustworthy staff, a child can get involved in educational, recreational and social activities. All Kids Cafe programs also offer nutrition education throughout the school year.
