The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia will work toward ending hunger as part of an overall community effort to alleviate poverty.

Empty Bowl Luncheon & Silent Auction

Where: The Classic Center

Now in its 16th year, the annual Empty Bowls Luncheon and Silent Auction is set for Wednesday March 5, 2014, at the Classic Center in downtown Athens from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

As always,a simple lunch of soup and a sandwich will be served. Katy Arrowood has generously agreed to prepare her famous chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches, and 10 local eateries have agreed to prepare homemade soup for our guests. This year’s participating local eateries are:

Guests will once again receive a beautiful hand-crafted or hand-painted bowl to serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community, and have the opportunity to bid on unique local pottery at the silent auction. Participating artists this year include:

This year, tickets are $20 in advance. They will be $25 the day of the event. For each ticket sold in advance the Food Bank can provide 80 meals to those that may not know where their next meal will come from.
