Food Bank Partner Agencies serving individuals and families in need in Northeast Georgia can pick up food and other items for their programs at this location, as well as at the main warehouse in Athens. Delivery is available in some cases (order 48 hours ahead for pick-up in Cornelia). Non-profit organizations that want to become Partner Agencies should call 706-354-8191 or email agency@foodbanknega.org to request an application.
History
After working with every county within our service area, the greatest
barrier our Partner Agencies faced was distance. A three hour round-trip,
plus additional shopping time, was just too long to spend, especially for
volunteer-based agencies.
Thus, we began work on establishing a branch location approximately halfway between our furthest counties and the Food Bank Warehouse in Athens. United Way of Habersham was beginning work on their new building and generously allowed us to utilize an unoccupied part of the building. After tremendous amounts of work and much help from local members of the area, the warehouse is up and running.
